Vietnamese Businesses Embrace AI, Boosting Productivity and Time Savings

Vietnamese businesses are rapidly embracing artificial intelligence, with significant implications for productivity and growth.

According to the CIO Vietnam Survey 2026, nearly 75% of businesses have started testing or deploying AI. Over 81% report that AI has improved productivity and saved time, although only 6.3% have seen clear financial benefits from their AI investments.

Majority of Vietnamese Firms Adopt AI Technology

The CIO Vietnam Survey 2026 reveals that 75% of Vietnamese businesses are experimenting with or implementing AI. This trend reflects a broader shift in technology investment priorities, moving from operational optimization to business growth. The survey highlights that 78.4% of CIOs prioritize increasing revenue and developing new business models, emphasizing AI’s role in corporate strategies.

Applied AI is the leading technology focus, with 81.1% of surveyed businesses selecting it as a priority. Meanwhile, the interest in Agentic AI is expected to surge, with projections indicating that the percentage of CIOs prioritizing it will rise from 30% in 2026 to 60.4% in 2027.

Financial Value of AI Remains Elusive

Despite the widespread adoption of AI, only 6.3% of companies report clear financial value from their AI initiatives. This value is measured through tangible impacts on revenue, costs, and profits. Furthermore, while about 35% of businesses have deployed AI agents into production, their autonomy is limited, with only 7.2% of firms allowing AI systems to make independent decisions within set policy frameworks.

The demand for skills in Generative AI and Agentic AI is also on the rise, expected to increase from 53.1% to 69.4% by 2027. This shift indicates a growing recognition of the need for specialized talent in the evolving tech landscape.
