Royal Air Maroc to Launch Starlink Inflight Connectivity by 2027

Royal Air Maroc is set to revolutionize air travel in Africa with Starlink connectivity.

The Moroccan flag carrier will equip 41 of its aircraft with SpaceX’s high-speed satellite-based broadband service. The first installations are expected to be completed by early 2027, providing free service to members of RAM’s Safar Flyer loyalty program.

Royal Air Maroc (RAM) will be the first airline in Africa to offer Starlink inflight connectivity. This initiative marks a significant advancement in the airline’s service offerings, enhancing the travel experience for passengers. The service aims to provide high-speed, low-latency internet access during flights.

While specific aircraft types have not been disclosed, it is anticipated that the long-haul fleet, including 13 B787s, will be among the first to receive the upgrades. Additionally, a substantial portion of RAM’s 47-strong B737 fleet is expected to be fitted with the technology.

  • 41 aircraft to be equipped with Starlink
  • First installations expected by early 2027
  • 76 aircraft in RAM’s fleet as of October 2026
  • 200 aircraft acquisition plan reported in April 2024

Strengthening Connections Between Continents

Royal Air Maroc aims to enhance its role as a key connector between Africa, Europe, and North America. The introduction of Starlink connectivity is part of a broader strategy to improve passenger services and expand the airline’s operational capabilities. As RAM looks to grow its fleet, the addition of advanced technology like Starlink will play a crucial role in its future plans.
