Viet Nam Sends Largest Delegation to AIMO 2026 Finals with 300 Students

Viet Nam showcases its mathematical talent on an international stage.

Nearly 300 students from Viet Nam participated in the AIMO 2026 finals, marking the largest delegation ever from the country. The competition involved 30 questions designed to assess mathematical reasoning and problem-solving skills, with an awards ceremony set for August 4 in Ha Noi.

Viet Nam’s Strong Representation at AIMO 2026

Viet Nam ranked among the top 10 largest delegations at the AIMO 2026 finals. The impressive turnout included contestants from 18 provinces and cities, with Ha Noi contributing over 100 participants. Other notable contributions came from Thanh Hoa with 20, Ho Chi Minh City with 15, and Tuyen Quang with 14.

The competition aimed to rigorously evaluate students’ mathematical abilities through a test structured in three levels of difficulty. Contestants were not allowed to bring mobile phones, smartwatches, calculators, or reference materials into the examination room, ensuring a fair assessment environment.

Key Details of the AIMO Competition

The AIMO competition in Viet Nam was jointly organized by Tien Phong newspaper and the Ha Noi University of Science and Technology. The national competition attracted over 11,000 students from 22 provinces and cities during the preliminary round. After several selection stages, 1,300 students advanced to the national finals, with nearly 300 earning the opportunity to represent Viet Nam internationally.
