Morocco’s Consumer Prices Decrease 0.6% Year-on-Year in July 2026

Morocco’s consumer prices have seen a significant decline, marking a notable shift in inflation trends.

In July 2026, consumer prices in Morocco fell 0.6% year-on-year, reversing a previous rise of 0.3% in June. This decline is attributed to a 3.7% drop in food prices, deepening from a 2.5% decrease the month prior.

Food Prices Drive Inflation Down in Morocco

The notable decrease in food prices has played a crucial role in the overall inflation trend. In July, food prices fell by 3.7% year-on-year, a significant increase in decline compared to the previous month. This shift has contributed to the first overall decline in consumer prices since February 2026.

Non-food inflation also showed signs of moderation, slowing to 1.9% from 2.3% in June. Key components such as communication and transport saw price decreases, further supporting the downward trend in inflation.

Key Inflation Trends in Morocco’s Economy

While food prices have decreased, other sectors have shown mixed results. Inflation for housing and utilities accelerated slightly to 1.5%, while restaurants and hotels saw an increase to 2.4%. Education and health inflation remained stable, indicating varied pressures across different sectors.

Future Outlook for Morocco’s Consumer Prices

  • Monitor ongoing trends in food prices and their impact on overall inflation.
  • Watch for potential adjustments in housing and utility costs.
  • Evaluate the effects of transport and communication price changes on consumer spending.

Morocco’s inflation landscape is shifting, driven by significant changes in food prices.
