Africazine:

Cora Gold has secured the renewal of its Sanankoro II exploration permit, a crucial step for its gold mining ambitions in Mali.

The Mali government approved the first interim renewal during a Council of Ministers meeting on August 21. This permit, covering an area of 84.11 km2, was initially awarded on March 2, 2021, and is essential for advancing Cora’s flagship Sanankoro gold project.

Renewal of Sanankoro II Exploration Permit Approved

The renewal of the Sanankoro II exploration permit is part of a broader effort to consolidate mining infrastructure under a single permit area. Cora Gold’s CEO, Bert Monro, emphasized that this renewal is a significant milestone toward obtaining a mining permit for Sanankoro.

As the company moves forward, it will also seek to renew the Bokoro II and Kodiou exploration permits, which were not finalized before the November 2022 moratorium. Completing these renewals is vital for the reshaping exercise and advancing Cora’s application for a proposed 100 km2 mining permit at Sanankoro.

Progress on Front-End Engineering Design

Cora Gold is making strides in its front-end engineering design (FEED) process, which is crucial for preparing the Sanankoro project for full construction. This process, announced in May, is progressing alongside a drilling program aimed at extending existing deposits and exploring promising near-mine greenfield targets.

Completing the FEED process will enable Cora to make informed decisions regarding long lead items, potentially accelerating the project’s timeline once the mining permit is received.
