FNB Expands 99c Bread Offer to Boxer Stores Nationwide

FNB is enhancing grocery affordability for South Africans through its expanded 99c bread initiative at Boxer stores.

Starting 1 July 2026, FNB Easy, Aspire, and Prime Life customers can buy up to four loaves of bread per month for just 99 cents each when shopping at Boxer. This initiative aims to alleviate financial pressure on households, especially in rural areas, by providing practical savings on a staple food item.

FNB Expands 99c Bread Initiative to Boxer Stores

The popular 99c bread benefit, initially launched with Pick n Pay in September 2024, is now available at Boxer stores nationwide. This expansion allows more South Africans to access affordable bread, a crucial item in their grocery shopping. FNB’s partnership with Boxer is designed to reach customers in communities where affordable groceries are essential for managing household budgets.

According to FNB, the initiative has already made a significant impact, with over 6.3 million loaves purchased and R9.6 million in savings generated for customers. The bank emphasizes that this program is part of its broader strategy to combine banking services with retail partnerships to help customers cope with rising living costs.

Key Benefits for South African Families

This initiative is particularly beneficial for families facing financial strain at the grocery store. By providing a simple and accessible way to purchase bread, FNB aims to help customers manage their budgets more effectively. The program’s simplicity and relevance resonate with customers, making it a reliable option for those in need.

Boxer CEO Marek Masojada highlighted the shared commitment to making shopping more affordable. The partnership reflects a mutual understanding of the challenges faced by families, ensuring that small savings can accumulate over time to make a difference.

Next Steps for FNB and Boxer Partnership

  • Initiative launches on 1 July 2026.
  • Further expansion of practical rewards into additional categories is planned.

FNB's collaboration with Boxer exemplifies how financial institutions can support families in managing essential expenses.
