Congo’s SNPC and Dangote Refinery Discuss Strategic Partnership for Petroleum Supply

The Republic of the Congo is taking significant steps to enhance its petroleum supply through a strategic partnership with Dangote Petroleum Refinery.

The Société Nationale des Pétroles du Congo (SNPC) and Dangote Petroleum Refinery & Petrochemicals have initiated discussions to strengthen the supply of refined petroleum products. This collaboration aims to advance regional energy cooperation and industrial integration across Africa.

SNPC and Dangote Forge Strategic Partnership

During a visit to the Dangote Petroleum Refinery in Lagos, SNPC Managing Director Maixent Raoul Ominga emphasized the importance of this partnership. He described the refinery as a strategic asset for Africa and expressed a keen interest in developing a long-term relationship that would enhance the supply of refined petroleum products.

Ominga highlighted the discussions focused on collaboration opportunities in refining, energy security, and knowledge sharing. He praised the Dangote Group for its role in financing and operating world-class industrial infrastructure, marking a significant milestone in Africa’s industrial transformation.

Key Investments and Future Plans

Aliko Dangote, President and Chief Executive of Dangote Industries Limited, reiterated the Group’s commitment to Africa’s industrialization. He noted that the refinery sets a new benchmark for fuel quality in Africa, producing products that meet high international specifications.

Dangote also outlined plans for significant investments, including an additional US billion between 2026 and 2028 across various sectors. This investment aims to accelerate industrialization and improve access to cleaner fuels, reducing reliance on imported refined products.
