Africazine:

Rosh Pinah Zinc has successfully commissioned a new SAG mill, marking a significant milestone in its expansion project in Namibia.

The new semi-autogenous grinding mill will double the processing throughput to 1.4-million tonnes of ore annually. This upgrade is crucial for enhancing zinc and lead concentrate production as part of the RP2.0 expansion project.

New SAG Mill Enhances Processing Capacity

The commissioning of the SAG mill replaces the existing ball mill, completing the major processing components of the RP2.0 expansion project. This new mill integrates with the paste fill and water treatment plants, along with expanded flotation, thickening, and filtration capacity.

The revised flowsheet improves comminution efficiency and resilience, which leads to better grind size control and metallurgical recovery while reducing unit operating costs. Additionally, the mill is designed to handle harder ore types, which are expected to become more common as mining operations progress.

Namibia: Key figures on zinc/lead production

  • 1.4-million tonnes of ore a year processing capacity
  • Over two-million lost-time injury-free hours
  • Construction progress surpassing 95%

RP2.0 Project Continues to Advance

The RP2.0 project includes further development of the underground mine and the construction of new surface facilities. The project remains on schedule and on budget, reflecting the commitment to operational excellence.

With the SAG mill operational, the project is set to achieve a significant increase in production output, showcasing the dedication of the RPZ team and Appian Capital Advisory.
