Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch led the inaugural meeting of the Casablanca-Settat Territorial Health Group, adopting an action plan and budget for 2026. A key highlight was the launch of a new hospital-university complex in Casablanca, aimed at improving public healthcare in the region.
Launch of Casablanca-Settat Health Initiative
The Casablanca-Settat Territorial Health Group is the sixth initiative of its kind in Morocco, following similar groups in regions like Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceïma and Rabat-Salé-Kénitra. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to reform the national healthcare system, emphasizing regional governance.
During the meeting, Akhannouch stressed that strengthening regional governance is essential for healthcare reform and advancing social protection initiatives. The action plan includes mechanisms for better governance, upgrading health infrastructure, and improving patient care pathways.

The Casablanca-Settat region is crucial to Morocco’s healthcare reform, representing about 21% of the national population. It houses 376 primary healthcare facilities and a public hospital network with nearly 4,943 beds. As healthcare demands rise, authorities are focusing on integrated management to enhance service quality.
