Prime Minister Reviews Medical Convoy Outcomes in Assiut Governorate

Access to quality healthcare is crucial for underserved communities in Egypt.

Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly recently reviewed the outcomes of a medical convoy organized by the Supreme Medical Committee and Reliefs in collaboration with the Egyptian Cure Bank Foundation. This initiative took place in El-Ghanayem and El-Qusiya districts of Assiut Governorate from May 4 to 7, 2026, providing free medical services to citizens.

Successful Medical Convoy in Assiut Governorate

The medical convoy showcased the effective partnership between the Supreme Medical Committee and civil society organizations. This collaboration aligns with the government’s commitment to ensure that citizens in villages and underserved areas have access to quality healthcare.

During the event, a variety of medical specialties were represented, including orthopedics, internal medicine, cardiology, pediatrics, chest diseases, dermatology, ENT, and ophthalmology. The initiative not only provided free medical examinations and treatments but also conducted laboratory tests and distributed eyeglasses.

Key Outcomes of the Initiative

According to Naglaa Abdel Moneim, Head of the Supreme Medical Committee and Reliefs, the convoy examined 1,549 ophthalmology cases and provided 690 eyeglasses. Additionally, it performed 162 free eye surgeries and examined 2,355 cases across other specialties.

Furthermore, 117 cases were referred to Ministry of Health and university hospitals for specialized care, highlighting the initiative’s role in addressing healthcare needs in the region.
