Lagos Governor Thanks President for Green Line Rail Project Approval

The Lagos Green Line Rail Project has received crucial approval, marking a significant advancement in urban transportation.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Federal Executive Council for approving Phase 1A of the project. This phase will cover approximately 68 kilometres and connect key areas, including Marina and the Lekki Free Trade Zone, with an expected capacity to serve up to 500,000 passengers daily.

The Lagos Green Line Rail Project aims to transform urban mobility in the state. It will feature about 17 stations strategically located in commercial and residential areas such as Victoria Island, Ajah, and the Lekki corridor. This infrastructure is designed to significantly reduce travel time and alleviate road congestion.

At full capacity, the rail line is projected to accommodate around one million passengers daily, with a peak capacity of 35,000 passengers per hour in each direction. This ambitious project is part of the state government’s broader strategy to enhance living standards and support economic growth.
