Africazine:
The Arab Fund for Arts and Culture is empowering the next generation of women filmmakers in the Arab world.
The third edition of the Women in Film program is now open, providing mentorship and training to 35 emerging filmmakers. This initiative, backed by AFAC and Netflix MENA, invites applicants from Egypt, Jordan, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE, with a deadline set for July 17th, 2026.
Empowering Arab Women Filmmakers
The Women in Film program aims to nurture talent among Arab women aged 23 to 30. Eligible applicants should have directed or worked on no more than one short film outside of an academic setting. This initiative is designed to foster creativity and professional growth in a supportive environment.
The program features two parallel tracks: one for writer-director and producer teams, focusing on script development and budgeting, and another technical track for individual cinematographers, editors, and sound designers. This structure ensures that participants receive comprehensive training tailored to their specific roles in filmmaking.
