34 Public Servants Graduate in Government Administration Diplomas in Kokopo

Public servants in East New Britain have completed a significant training program aimed at enhancing governance.

A total of 34 public servants graduated with diplomas in government public administration on May 15. The 20-week program was conducted by the Somare Institute of Leadership and Governance at its Vunadidir campus.

Graduation Ceremony Celebrates Public Service Achievements

The graduation took place at the Gazelle International Hotel in Kokopo, marking a milestone for the participants. Silag’s chief executive officer, Michael Barobe, emphasized the importance of applying the knowledge gained during the program in their workplaces.

Barobe also announced plans to upgrade the Vunadidir campus to university status, which will allow public servants to pursue higher qualifications in the future. This initiative aims to strengthen leadership and governance in the region.

The upgrade to university status is seen as a vital step for the New Guinea Islands region. Local government president William Waina praised the establishment of the institution, highlighting its significance for the district’s development.
