Oyo State’s APC prepares for a crucial State Congress.
As the All Progressives Congress (APC) gears up for its nationwide State Congress on Tuesday, Oyo State stakeholders have established a zoning arrangement through an Adhoc Committee. This committee will allocate posts within the State Executive Committee to each of the 33 local government areas.
Oyo APC Forms Adhoc Zoning Committee
The meeting took place at the APC State Secretariat in Oke-Ado, Ibadan, where the Adhoc Zoning Committee was formed. Chaired by Alhaji Fatai Ibikunle, the committee includes Mr. Afeez Bolaji Repete as Secretary, along with members Idris Adeoye, Adesoji Adedeji, Ajiboye Sangogade, and Akeem Olatunji.
This committee’s primary task is to ensure that each local government area is represented fairly in the State Executive Committee. The stakeholders emphasized the importance of maintaining peace and harmony as they approach the 2027 general elections.
Nomination Process for State Executive Committee
Once the zoning information is communicated, stakeholders from each of the 33 local government chapters will convene to nominate their representatives. These nominees will undergo mandatory screening by a special team from Abuja. The APC leadership has urged local leaders to select the best candidates for these vital positions.
The nomination and screening processes are expected to be completed promptly, as the unveiling and inauguration of the new State Executive Committee is set for Tuesday at the Obafemi Awolowo Stadium in Ibadan.
