Africazine:

Koryx Copper S.A. has significantly boosted its mineral resource at the Haib Copper Project in Namibia.

The total contained copper has risen to 3.5 million tonnes, up from 2.6 million tonnes, thanks to improved grades and operating parameters. The updated Mineral Resource Estimate, effective 16 March 2026, shows the high-grade portion’s copper equivalent grade increasing to 0.40% from 0.34%.

Haib Copper Project Resource Update

The Haib Copper Project is a large-scale open-pit sulphide copper deposit located in southern Namibia. The project now boasts an average production rate of 92,000 tonnes per annum over an initial mine life of 24 years. Koryx Copper’s President and CEO, Heye Daun, highlighted the importance of the updated resource, which reflects both improved grades and a reclassification of previously treated waste material.

The revised model has also reduced the expected stripping ratio from 1.74 times to 0.92 times, enhancing the project’s mining profile. This improvement is attributed to updated geological interpretation and new drilling results, which have contributed to the overall increase in the copper equivalent grade.

Key Figures on Haib Copper Project

  • 3.5 million tonnes of total contained copper
  • 0.40% copper equivalent grade
  • Initial mine life of 24 years
  • Average production rate of 92,000 tonnes per annum
  • 14 drill rigs planned for deployment
  • 50,000 metres of additional infill and growth drilling
  • Expected life-of-mine increase to more than 35 years

Future Plans for Haib Project

Koryx Copper plans to deploy 14 drill rigs to complete approximately 50,000 metres of additional drilling before mid-2026. The results from this drilling will inform a further resource update and a planned pre-feasibility study. The company anticipates that ongoing improvements in grade, stripping ratio, and processing will be reflected in updated project economics.

Next Steps for Koryx Copper

  • Complete 50,000 metres of drilling by mid-2026
  • Incorporate drilling results into another Mineral Resource Estimate update
  • Conduct a pre-feasibility study scheduled for Q4 2026

The Haib Copper Project is set for significant growth, enhancing Namibia’s mining landscape.
