Namibia is gearing up for a grand celebration of its 36th Independence Day.
The |Khomas Region is preparing for festivities at the Sam Nujoma Stadium, where officials have inspected the venue to ensure readiness. The celebrations will feature a parade by the Namibian Defence Force and designated areas for public access.
Preparations for Namibia’s Independence Day Celebrations
The regional celebrations are organized by a committee led by Chief Regional Officer Clement Mafwila. This committee includes various sub-groups that conducted a site visit to finalize arrangements at the stadium.
During the inspection, officials confirmed the locations for key activities, including the parade and public tents. They also identified specific entry points for the public and VIP guests to facilitate smooth access.
Security and Transportation Arrangements
Security measures are a priority, with personnel deployed around the stadium from Friday and Saturday to ensure attendee safety. Mwafila reassured the public about the comprehensive security arrangements in place.
In terms of transportation, Mannfred Kajovi from the Windhoek municipality’s transport department announced that ten buses will operate from usual pickup points across the city. Additional buses will serve areas outside Windhoek to accommodate attendees from further away.
