Hot Water Restored at Windhoek Central Hospital After 15 Years

Hot water has finally returned to Windhoek Central Hospital after 15 years of cold showers for patients and staff.

The Ministry of Works and Transport invested N.4 million to restore hot water by fixing the hospital’s industrial electrical geyser system. This project includes the installation of 14 new industrial geysers equipped with modern digital controls, ensuring comfort and hygiene across all hospital floors.

Patients and staff at Windhoek Central Hospital can now enjoy hot water after years of relying on cold water. The restoration project, led by the Ministry of Works and Transport, involved a significant investment of N.4 million. The Minister of Works and Transport, Veikko Nekundi, emphasized the importance of this upgrade, particularly in maternity wards, where hygiene is crucial. The refurbishment aims to improve the overall experience for patients and staff alike.

Dr. Esperance Luvindao, the Minister of Health and Social Services, addressed concerns regarding the project’s initial focus on Windhoek. She clarified that while Windhoek is the starting point, the plan is to expand to other regions facing similar issues. This phased approach is necessary to ensure effective implementation.

Luvindao also discussed Vision April 2026, a directive aimed at ensuring senior government officials utilize state facilities. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to improve public services and infrastructure across Namibia.
