The Zambian government is enhancing local governance with new resources.
In a recent ceremony in Lusaka, the government delivered 10 vehicles to Provincial Local Government Officers and one to the Local Government Decentralisation Secretariat. Each office will also receive a laptop to aid in their operations, as part of the Zambia Devolution Support Programme.
Zambia’s Commitment to Local Governance Strengthened
Local Government and Rural Development Minister Gift Sialubalo emphasized the importance of these resources in supporting the devolution agenda. He urged Provincial Local Government Officers to enhance their oversight and supervision of government projects within their jurisdictions. This initiative aims to empower local offices to effectively implement development projects.
Luapula Provincial Local Government Officer Kambinga Nondo expressed his commitment to diligently monitor all projects under his authority. The provision of vehicles is expected to significantly improve mobility for officers, enabling them to conduct regular field visits and inspections.
