The Algerian-Cameroon Parliamentary Friendship Group is enhancing bilateral relations through strategic cooperation.

During a recent virtual meeting, the group’s vice-president, Kouira Mehdi, highlighted the strong ties between Algeria and Cameroon. He emphasized the need to accelerate preparations for the fifth session of the Joint Committee for Bilateral Cooperation, set to take place this year in Yaoundé.

Kouira Mehdi praised the founding of the Parliamentary Friendship Group in 2022 as a testament to both nations’ commitment to fostering cooperation. He called for all members to actively participate in ensuring the swift completion of preparations for the upcoming joint committee session.

The recent opening of a direct air route between Algeria and Douala in 2023 is expected to facilitate more visits and collaborative efforts at international forums. This development aims to enhance participation in organizations such as the Inter-Parliamentary Union and the African Parliamentary Union.

The Algerian Embassy representative in Cameroon reiterated the importance of strong bilateral ties. He emphasized that agreements in various sectors are crucial for strengthening partnerships. Algeria’s commitment to advancing these ties is aimed at mutual benefits for both nations.

Additionally, the head of the Cameroonian National Committee for Education, Vocational Training, and Youth expressed gratitude for Algeria’s support in educating Cameroonian students. This initiative not only fosters cultural exchange but also enhances research and higher education collaboration.
