Malanje Province Experiences Increased Tourist Influx During Holiday Season

Malanje Province in Angola has seen a remarkable surge in holiday tourism, attracting hundreds of visitors.

During the recent extended holiday, hotel occupancy rates soared to between 80% and 100%. Tourists from various countries flocked to enjoy the natural beauty and attractions of Malanje, particularly the Shrine of the Giant Sable Antelope and the Falls of Calandula.

Malanje’s Hotels Experience High Occupancy Rates

The Palanca Hotel reported full bookings across its 144 rooms, with guests primarily checking out on Tuesday after a four-day stay. The influx of tourists included visitors from the Czech Republic, France, Portugal, Brazil, the Dominican Republic, and Libya, with Angolan nationals leading the numbers.

Other hotels, such as the Portugália and Regina, also experienced significant occupancy, with the Portugália Hotel reaching over 90% occupancy. The Regina Hotel welcomed more than 300 guests from Friday to Monday.

Tourist Attractions and Visitor Experiences

Tourists highlighted the health and well-being benefits of visiting natural sites like the Falls of Calandula and the Kwanza Rapids. Angolan tourist Mara Moreno expressed her delight in experiencing the Giant Black Palanca in its natural habitat and emphasized the need for improved access to these attractions.

Visitors enjoyed various amenities, with room prices ranging from 63,000 to 105,000 kwanzas, including meals and access to facilities.
