The Lagos State Government is set to partially close the Lagos–Abeokuta Expressway for four weeks to facilitate essential road rehabilitation.
The closure begins on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, and will last until Wednesday, March 11, 2026. This initiative aims to repair failed sections of the road, impacting both inbound and outbound traffic.

The state Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi, shared the news via the Lagos State Ministry of Transportation’s X handle. The rehabilitation will focus on the stretch from U-Turn Bus Stop to Sango Tollgate.
To minimize traffic disruptions, the project will be executed in two phases. Phase One will affect Abeokuta-bound traffic from February 11 to March 4, 2026, while Phase Two will impact Lagos-bound traffic from March 4 to March 11, 2026.

Traffic Management During Rehabilitation
During Phase One, traffic from Lagos/Abule-Egba towards Abeokuta/Sango Tollgate will be diverted to one half of the carriageway, approximately 20 metres away from the active work zone. After completing the first half, traffic will be redirected to the rehabilitated section.
In Phase Two, traffic from Abeokuta/Sango Tollgate towards Lagos/Abule-Egba will similarly be diverted through one half of the road. Normal traffic flow will be restored after the construction area.
