The Blue March for Environmental Protection has officially begun in Mauritania, marking a significant milestone for biodiversity preservation.

On February 3, 2026, the initiative launched from Arkis in the Chami District, coinciding with the 50th anniversary of the Banc d’Arguin National Park. This event was overseen by President Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani during the Heritage Cities Festival held in Wadan in December 2025.
