Rainfall Expected to Spread Across Namibia’s Northern and Central Regions

Namibia is experiencing a welcome shift in weather patterns with steady rainfall across several regions.

This week, various parts of Namibia have received light to moderate rainfall, with more showers expected on Thursday. Notably, Tsumeb in the Oshikoto Region recorded approximately 23 mm of rain between Tuesday and Wednesday morning.

Rainfall Spreads Across Namibia’s Regions

The Namibia Meteorological Services reports that Thursday’s showers will impact the northern, central, and eastern regions. Areas such as Ohangwena, Oshikoto, Kavango East, Kavango West, Zambezi, Otjozondjupa, and Omaheke are set to receive rainfall.

In addition to Tsumeb, Okahandja and surrounding areas in the Otjozondjupa Region have also experienced light showers. Other towns like Otjiwarongo, Grootfontein, and Otavi have seen consistent rainfall throughout the week.

Weather Relief for Southern Namibia

While the northern and central regions welcome the rain, the southern parts of Namibia have endured an intense heatwave. Towns such as Noordoewer and Keetmanshoop in the //Kharas Region faced temperatures nearing 40°C earlier this week. However, relief is on the way, with maximum temperatures expected to drop to 34°C on Thursday.
