A training course aimed at enhancing port security in Libya has successfully concluded in Tunis.

The Libyan Ports Company organized an eight-day training course for its security team, focusing on auditing and inspection. Participants included security officers from various ports, such as Zwara, Tripoli, Al-Khums, and Derna.

The training course was designed to meet the requirements of the ISPS Code, which governs ship and port security. This initiative is part of the Libyan Ports Company’s broader 2026 training plan, aimed at improving safety and security protocols across its facilities.

Lectures were delivered by a specialized training team, including Captain Haitham Damak, Sameh Souissi, and Engineer Marwan Hafeza. Their expertise contributed to the comprehensive nature of the course, ensuring that participants gained valuable insights into effective security measures.

Collaboration with Educational Institutions

The course was organized by Al-Olum Company for Education, Training, and Human Resources Development, in cooperation with Yassin Marine Services Center. Yassin Marine Services is recognized for its specialization in maritime training and is accredited by the Ports and Maritime Transport Authority.

The presence of the Libyan Consul in Tunisia, Fadel Al-Gharriou, at the ceremony highlights the importance of this initiative in strengthening Libya’s maritime security framework.
