The Federal University Oye-Ekiti is embarking on a transformative journey to redefine its educational landscape over the next twenty-five years.

In a strategic retreat held in Lagos, the university’s Governing Council and management team outlined plans to evolve into a digitally driven, entrepreneurially oriented, and globally connected institution. The initiative aims to enhance financial sustainability through diverse revenue streams while ensuring affordability and access for students.

FUOYE’s Vision for the Next 25 Years

The retreat, themed “FUOYE Beyond Today: Strategic Alignment, Governance, Partnerships and Financial Sustainability for the Next 25 Years (2025–2050),” focused on the university’s long-term strategic direction. Members unanimously agreed on the need for a phased and costed roadmap to achieve their ambitious goals.

Key to this vision is the commitment to strengthen financial sustainability through various means, including endowments, alumni contributions, public-private partnerships, and grants. This multifaceted approach aims to ensure that FUOYE remains accessible while enhancing its financial health.

Nurturing Leadership and Governance

The retreat also recognized the contributions of outgoing Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abayomi Sunday Fasina, for his transformative leadership, which has significantly advanced the university’s academic and infrastructural development. Incoming Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Joshua Olalekan Ogunwole, was commended for his transparent appointment process, setting a standard for governance in university administration.

Both leaders played pivotal roles in the development of FUOYE’s strategic plan, ensuring continuity and stability in leadership as the institution moves forward.
