The Kwekwe-Nkayi-Lupane highway project is officially on the fast track, promising to revolutionize travel in Zimbabwe! According to Brighton Vundla, the project manager at Road Trackers, a significant portion of the work is expected to be completed in the upcoming year. “Next year, we aim to cover 30 kilometers on the Matabeleland North side and another 30 kilometers in the Midlands,” Vundla revealed, adding that a dedicated team will be working diligently from Kwekwe to ensure progress.

By being able to bypass parts of the journey through Bulawayo, expect an almost three-hour time saving for the Harare to Victoria Falls trip.
Incorporating advanced infrastructure, the new road will include two toll plazas and two weigh bridges, adhering to the regulations set by the Zimbabwe National Road Authority (ZINARA). These enhancements will help safeguard the road from heavy truck traffic, especially from Hwange, known for its robust coal production, which is essential for Zimbabwe’s electricity and steel industries.
