Dubai's Writing Initiative Inspires Over 102,000 Youths in 2025
Dubai, UAE, December 24, 2025 – The Dubai International Program for Writing (DIPW) has made significant strides this year, reaching an impressive milestone by engaging over 102,000 participants globally, with a staggering majority being young adults. This ambitious project, launched in 2013 as part of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation (MBRF), continues to champion the talents of Emirati and Arab writers while contributing to the broader literary landscape.
In an era where storytelling has taken various forms, DIPW has positioned itself at the forefront of the intellectual and creative renaissance by fostering a new generation of passionate writers. It boasts operations in four pivotal areas: creative writing, writer exchange, the ‘My Story’ competition, and the art of translation. These are complemented by engaging initiatives such as ‘Knowledge Lounge’ and ‘My Family is Reading,’ which encourage a culture of reading and learning among families.
What’s truly remarkable is that of the 102,000 participants, a vibrant community of over 85,000 young people aged 10 to 35 hails from the UAE alone. The program’s influence reached beyond national borders, extending to countries like Jordan, Egypt, Australia, Canada, and Germany. In Germany, for instance, the program empowered 2,500 aspiring authors during its participation in the prestigious Frankfurt International Book Fair, demonstrating a commitment to cultivating literary skills on a global stage.
Notably, DIPW saw a tremendous surge in application interest this year, receiving over 800 enrollments, from which 85 talented writers were meticulously selected for specialized projects. This rich training environment culminated in the publication of six new books by emerging authors, showcasing their unique voices and stories. Additionally, the program distributed over 60,000 books across various genres, further disseminating knowledge through the ‘My Family is Reading’ initiative.
His Excellency Jamal bin Huwaireb, CEO of MBRF, expressed pride in DIPW’s accomplishments, stating, “DIPW embodies the UAE’s vision for knowledge creation and the empowerment of Arab youth. Our integrated model of training, knowledge production, and global engagement enhances Dubai’s acknowledgment as a center for literary excellence.” This emphasis on nurturing young talent ensures that Arab literature continues to thrive on the international stage.
As the program pushes forward, it maintains its mission of inspiring creativity across multiple disciplines. The Knowledge Lounge initiative has also flourished, offering over 300 sessions attended by nearly 15,000 participants, featuring contributions from more than 80 writers and trainers sharing their knowledge and expertise.
In a world increasingly driven by technology and the arts, DIPW stands as a testament to the power of words and the importance of nurturing young talent. It’s not just about writing; it’s about building a future rich with creativity and stories waiting to be told.
