“Lagos Kicks Off Compensation Countdown: Oworonshoki Residents Eligible for Second Round of Payments!”

In a significant step towards community development, the Lagos State government, through the Lagos State Urban Renewal Agency (LASURA), has launched the second round of enumeration for residents impacted by the Oworonshoki regeneration project. This initiative aligns with the government’s commitment to ensuring that all property owners receive fair compensation for their displaced homes.

The enumeration activities took place at the historic Oloworo Palace in Oworonshoki, located in the vibrant Kosofe Local Government Area. Under the guidance of LASURA’s General Manager, Town Planner Oladimeji Animashaun, the event attracted an impressive turnout, including community leaders, traditional chiefs, and representatives from various civil society organizations, all keen to support their fellow residents. The presence of security agencies and media further underscored the importance of this initiative.

Animashaun highlighted that this second enumeration phase was crucial to capture residents who were overlooked in the initial round, ensuring that everyone entitled to compensation receives their due. “Only last week, we were here distributing compensation to those whose homes were affected by the ongoing urban regeneration. After that event, many residents who missed the first opportunity voiced their concerns and sought an additional chance to be enumerated,” he explained.

The enthusiasm among residents was palpable, with more participants showing up than during the first exercise. This increase indicates a growing trust in the government’s sincerity and commitment, driven by the successful distribution of compensation to their neighbors. “Initially, there were doubts about the government’s intentions, but witnessing actual payments has fostered confidence among the community. Now, everyone is eager to be part of the process,” noted Animashaun.

This renewed effort not only reflects the government’s dedication to community welfare but also encourages a spirit of unity among residents. Animashaun assured everyone that the compensation process would proceed swiftly and efficiently, ensuring no legitimate claimant is left behind.

As Lagos continues on its path toward urban renewal, initiatives like these are pivotal in fostering development and enhancing community ties. It’s clear that with ongoing engagement and transparency, the Lagos State government is striving to build stronger, more cohesive neighborhoods.
