A Historic Celebration: Sayyid Theyazin Graces the Grand Egyptian Museum’s Inaugural Event

Cairo – A New Chapter in Cultural Heritage

In a spectacular celebration of culture and history, the Grand Egyptian Museum was officially inaugurated this past Saturday evening, marking a significant milestone in Egypt’s journey to showcase its rich heritage. The event was attended by none other than HH Sayyid Theyazin bin Haitham Al Said, Minister of Culture, Sports and Youth, who represented His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik of Oman.

Upon his arrival, Sayyid Theyazin was graciously received by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, accompanied by dignitaries and officials from Egypt’s government. In a heartwarming moment, a commemorative group photograph was taken with President El-Sisi and the heads of various delegations, capturing the significance of this historic occasion.

The Grand Egyptian Museum is no ordinary establishment; it is poised to become a beacon of knowledge and culture. Housing over 50,000 artefacts that traverse epochs of Egyptian history, it features a scientific restoration center, educational zones, and serene open gardens. To celebrate the vibrancy of Egypt’s past, the inaugural ceremony included breathtaking musical and theatrical performances, ensuring that the rich legacy of the nation was honored in style.

Speaking at the event, Sayyid Theyazin expressed his heartfelt enthusiasm for representing the Sultan of Oman and highlighted the museum’s role as a modern manifestation of Egypt’s dedication to preserving human heritage. He remarked that this monumental achievement not only reflects Egypt but shines as a symbol of pride for the entire Arab world. “This museum is a landmark that elevates Arab culture on the global stage and fosters collaboration among Arab nations in heritage and archaeological pursuits,” he stated.

Echoing this sentiment, President El-Sisi welcomed esteemed guests, emphasizing the museum’s completion as a result of extensive international cooperation. He envisions the museum as a global dialogue platform, attracting visitors from all walks of life.

Conceived in the 1990s and inaugurated in a prime location overlooking the iconic Giza Pyramids, the Grand Egyptian Museum is not just another museum; it’s a triumph of architectural vision, designed to reflect the sun’s rays extending from the ancient pyramids. This cultural landmark boasts the complete collection of King Tutankhamun’s treasures – a first for enthusiasts and historians alike – along with magnificent pieces from the era of Queen Hetepheres and the legendary Khufu Solar Ships.

Sayyid Theyazin was joined by a distinguished Omani delegation, including H.E. Salim bin Mohammed Al Mahrouqi, the Minister of Heritage and Tourism, and Ambassador Abdullah bin Nasser Al Rahbi, showcasing the collaborative spirit that bridges nations through shared history and culture.

As we stand at the dawn of a new phase for the Grand Egyptian Museum, it is clear that Egypt is committed to sharing its narrative with the world, solidifying its position as a leader in cultural heritage.
