ZimTrade Promotes Regional Trade through the Windhoek Agricultural and Livestock Show

In an exciting development for Zimbabwean businesses, ZimTrade, the national trade promotion organization, is facilitating the participation of 13 local companies at the highly anticipated Windhoek Agricultural and Livestock Show (WALS) set to take place from September 30 to October 4, 2025. This event is a focal point for trade, innovation, and cultural exchange in the Southern African region, and it’s drawing significant interest this year.

WALS is not just any ordinary trade fair; it stands as one of Namibia’s largest and most vibrant exhibitions, consistently attracting over 100,000 attendees. The mix of farmers, consumers, government representatives, and buyers makes this event a melting pot of opportunity for local businesses looking to expand their reach. This year’s participants span diverse sectors such as leather and footwear, agri-processing, horticultural inputs, poultry, beverages, and lifestyle products.

The Windhoek show is particularly pivotal for Zimbabwean exhibitors who, according to ZimTrade, are returning for the fourth time. Last year’s participation saw a surge in foot traffic and positive engagement with local retailers, laying the groundwork for future business endeavors. “Exhibitors secured promising leads and established valuable distribution contacts, enhancing their market positioning,” ZimTrade shared in a recent newsletter. With tailored strategies derived from insights gleaned at last year’s exhibition, this year’s delegation is more strategically diverse and focused.

The World Bank has noted that trade between Zimbabwe and Namibia is on the upswing, with Namibia importing goods worth an impressive US.8 billion from Zimbabwe in 2024. This highlights the potential for growth as Zimbabwean products align with Namibia’s import needs, especially in processed foods, beverages, and agricultural equipment.

In an exciting addition, seven Zimbabwean producers will also showcase their finest fresh produce, including blueberries, avocados, and chillies at the Fruit Attraction 2025 in Madrid, Spain, from September 30 to October 2. This event is not only a high-profile trade fair but a global hub where suppliers and consumers converge to exchange ideas, cultivate new partnerships, and promote innovation in the fruit and vegetable sector.

With potential avenues to explore and an emphasis on building long-term partnerships, this year’s participation at both WALS and Fruit Attraction embodies the spirit of collaboration and growth that is crucial for regional economic development.

As we look ahead, it’s clear that ZimTrade’s dedicated efforts are fostering an environment ripe for success. The upcoming events promise to deliver not just increased visibility, but tangible business opportunities that can benefit Zimbabwean industries across the board.
