COP30 Participants Unite to Amplify Global Cooperation for Climate Action, Says Brazilian Representative

Brazil Prepares for COP30: A Call for Multilateral Action on Climate Change

As the world gears up for the 2025 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP30), which will take place in the lush Amazonian city of Belem, Brazil, there’s a rising chorus of commitment from participating countries to strengthen global cooperation in tackling climate issues. Brazil’s Secretary for Climate, Energy, and Environment, Andre Correa do Lago, recently underscored this sentiment, revealing during a press conference that nearly all delegates shared a unified goal: enhancing multilateralism in the face of climate change.

Speaking to reporters in Brasilia at a pivotal Pre-COP30 meeting, do Lago noted that the call for multilateral engagement resonated strongly among representatives from diverse nations. “There was clear alignment around the desire to reinforce multilateralism — it was mentioned by everyone,” he stated, showcasing a renewed sense of purpose among nations, regardless of their economic standing.

The discussions, which were reported by the Namibia Press Agency, illuminated a key focus on adaptation strategies. This aspect garnered significant attention from wealthier nations, small island states, and middle-income countries alike. Adaptation to climate change is an urgent matter, and do Lago pointed out the general consensus on its importance among participants, signaling that even among countries with varied resources, the commitment to action is unmistakable.

Moreover, the presence of Brazil’s Finance Minister, Fernando Haddad, at the preparatory discussions further demonstrates the increasing recognition of the economic dimensions intertwined with climate challenges. This engagement may pave the way for innovative funding solutions that will empower countries to adapt and mitigate the impacts of climate change.

Brazilian officials are optimistic about this year’s conference, aiming to foster an inclusive environment where every country feels welcome to contribute. “President Lula has been clear that this will be an open COP where everyone is welcome,” do Lago assured, setting the tone for a collaborative and solution-oriented summit.

As COP30 approaches in November, the world watches with hope that this gathering can drive impactful commitments and unify efforts in the global fight against climate change. The stakes are high, but so is the collective resolve to create a sustainable future for all.
