Major Infrastructure Development: The Lagos-Sokoto Superhighway Takes Shape

David Umahi, recently announced the ambitious Lagos-Sokoto Superhighway project during an inspection in Silame, Sokoto State. Umahi took the opportunity to address some misconceptions regarding the Tinubu administration’s commitment to the Northwest, emphasizing that the superhighway aligns perfectly with the government’s Renewed Hope Agenda. This mega-project, spanning from Illela in Sokoto all the way to Badagry in Lagos, aims to revolutionize travel and trade in Nigeria. Key features of the highway include well-constructed concrete roads, streetlights, CCTV for enhanced security, and emergency response stations to ensure the safety and convenience of travelers.

The first 120 kilometers from the Sokoto axis is scheduled for completion by the end of 2026, promising considerable advancements in the immediate future.
Furthermore, the cost breakdown reveals that Kebbi is set to account for approximately N2 trillion, while Sokoto is earmarked for N1 trillion—a clear indication that both states are poised to be the largest beneficiaries of this federal initiative.
