Ambassador Lineekela Mboti Takes the Helm of Namibia’s African Peer Review Mechanism
September 14, 2025 – In a significant move to strengthen governance and diplomatic ties, President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has appointed Ambassador Lineekela Josephat Mboti as Namibia’s Focal Point and Chief Executive Officer of the African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM), effective this month. Ambassador Mboti, a seasoned diplomat, comes to this role with a rich background in international relations and governance. Having previously led the APRM Namibia Chapter since April 2019, he successfully orchestrated Namibia’s inaugural Country Review Report and conducted a Targeted Review focusing on the pressing issue of youth unemployment. These initiatives highlight his dedication to addressing critical challenges facing Namibian society and improving the lives of its citizens.
His diplomatic journey includes noteworthy positions such as Deputy Executive Director for Multilateral Relations and Cooperation at Namibia’s Ministry of International Relations and Cooperation between 2015 and 2019. His extensive experience also includes serving as Namibia’s Ambassador to Brazil, where he was concurrently accredited to nine neighboring countries, and as Ambassador to Angola from 2003 to 2010. His robust career reflects his steadfast commitment to fostering Namibia’s international relations.
Mboti, who holds a master’s degree in Diplomatic and Strategic Studies from the International University in Vienna, has been recognized for his exemplary service to the nation. In 2024, he was honored as a Grand Officer of the Most Distinguished Order of Namibia, Second Class. These accolades further establish him as a key figure in promoting Namibia’s interests on the global stage.
