AFTAAC Launches Vital Health Training Program in Rwanda

In an exciting development for healthcare in East Africa, the Arab Fund for Technical Assistance to African Countries (AFTAAC), in collaboration with prominent organizations, has launched a training program aimed at enhancing the skills of healthcare professionals in gastroenterology and cardiology. This transformative initiative kicked off at King Faisal Hospital in Kigali, Rwanda, running from August 26 to August 29.

On the morning of the opening ceremony, Ambassador Mohannad Saleh Lajouzi, the Assistant Secretary-General of the League of Arab States and Director-General of AFTAAC, addressed a gathered audience of dignitaries, including Her Excellency Narmine El-Zawahri, the Ambassador of Egypt to Rwanda, the President of the Rwandan Society of Gastroenterology, and healthcare leaders from across the region. Ambassador Lajouzi conveyed well wishes from the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, emphasizing how crucial initiatives like this are for empowering African healthcare professionals.

“The goal of this program is to enhance professional skills and expertise in the fields of gastroenterology and cardiology,” Ambassador Lajouzi stated. “Our commitment to supporting African professionals extends across various sectors, but healthcare remains a priority.”

The program features expert-led sessions with Arab specialists, aimed at upskilling participants, sharing best practices, and discussing the latest advancements in treatment and patient care. The Rwandan Society of Gastroenterology’s President highlighted the pressing need for such training initiatives, especially in light of the increasing demand for specialized care in the region.

The Egyptian Ambassador to Rwanda also expressed her gratitude for the ongoing collaboration, underscoring the importance of sustained support from healthcare partners. She highlighted the positive impact of this program, reinforcing the shared commitment to healthcare excellence in Rwanda.

As healthcare needs expand across Africa, programs like this represent a beacon of hope, fostering collaboration between nations and enhancing the capacity of local medical practitioners. This initiative not only promotes a culture of continuous learning but also exemplifies the spirit of Africa working together for the betterment of its people.

Through these efforts, AFTAAC is not just training healthcare professionals but also strengthening the foundation for a healthier future for all—showcasing the immense potential of cross-continent partnerships to elevate healthcare standards.
