In an exciting development for tech-savvy Namibians, Mobile Telecommunications Limited (MTC) has embarked on a transformative rural network optimisation project that promises to significantly improve mobile connectivity in northern Namibia. This initiative, unveiled recently, is set to enhance services in areas like Outapi, Oshakati, Rundu, and Katima Mulilo, where dependable network coverage has been a challenge historically.

The groundwork for this ambitious project comes after a comprehensive 2,000-kilometre audit that meticulously assessed connectivity gaps across these regions. With a focus on upgrading existing infrastructure, this initiative aims to ensure that both residents and local businesses can access robust mobile and internet services, bridging the technological divide that has long affected rural communities.

Erasmus Nekundi, MTC’s spokesperson, underscored the company’s dedication to improving communication accessibility for all Namibians. “MTC remains committed to bridging the digital divide and enhancing communication for all Namibians. This initiative is part of our ongoing effort to ensure quality service beyond urban centres,” he stated.

As improvements are rolled out progressively, the company is optimistic about delivering tangible benefits to the local populace in the coming months. This commitment not only reflects MTC’s vision of a digitally inclusive Namibia but also signifies the role of connectivity in driving economic growth and development in underserved areas.

In the wake of this announcement, residents and business owners alike can look forward to a more reliable communication infrastructure that opens up opportunities for education, e-commerce, and social connectivity. As we navigate a world increasingly driven by technology, initiatives like these are crucial in ensuring that no one is left behind.

Stay tuned for updates as MTC continues to make strides in enhancing the digital landscape across Namibia. With the promise of improved services on the horizon, it’s clear that northern Namibia is poised for greater connectivity and a brighter future.
