#Tourism #Entertainment #WorldNews

The vibrant town of Sur, nestled in the scenic Al Sharqiyah South Governorate, is buzzing with creativity as it hosts the distinguished “Wathiq” documentary film camp, an initiative that’s sure to inspire the next generation of filmmakers. Organized by the esteemed Oman Film Society in collaboration with the Al Sharqiyah South Governor’s Office, this year’s camp opened its doors on August 1 and will continue until August 6.

With participation from 30 enthusiastic young men and women, the camp is a golden opportunity for emerging talents to cultivate their filmmaking skills alongside industry experts. This unique program boasts a diverse lineup of workshops tailored to cover a wide array of essential filmmaking aspects. Aspiring filmmakers will immerse themselves in sessions on Idea Development led by the innovative Bahraini director and producer, Sana al Zayani, who is known for her engaging storytelling.

In addition to this, Omani director Anwar al Ruzaiqi will guide participants through Forming Film Teams and Role Distribution, ensuring that each aspiring filmmaker understands the importance of collaboration. Scriptwriting, a crucial element in visual storytelling, will be tackled by Qaisar bin Salim al Hinai, who brings a wealth of experience to the table.

Aspiring cinematographers will find inspiration in sessions focused on Cinematography and Lighting, presented by the distinguished Egyptian filmmaker Hamdy Wahba, while those looking to take the helm of directing will learn from Moroccan director Dr. Majida Benkirane. Not to be overlooked, there’s also a workshop on Editing and Colour Grading led by producer Radhi al Khumaisi, equipping filmmakers with the technical skills necessary for crafting polished final products.

The “Wathiq” camp not only fosters talent but also strengthens cultural exchanges across the Arab filmmaking landscape. By gathering young filmmakers from various backgrounds, it enhances collaboration and knowledge-sharing within the region. This initiative has the potential to spotlight Oman’s burgeoning film industry on the international stage, paving the way for future collaborations and artistic endeavors.

As we continue to celebrate the rich tapestry of cinema in Oman and across the Arab world, the successful execution of the “Wathiq” film camp stands as a testament to the spirit of creativity and cultural synthesis that thrives within this vibrant community. Keep an eye on the filmmakers of today, as they might just be the storytellers leading the charge in the cinematic landscapes of tomorrow!
