Outapi Town Council Launches a Transformative N Million Electrification Project
Outapi, Namibia – In an exciting development for the community of Outapi, the Town Council has initiated a transformative electrification project in Extension 20, allocating a substantial N million to enhance the living conditions and foster immediate housing development in the area. This strategic move is not only a significant investment in the town’s infrastructure but also reflects the Council’s commitment to sustainable urban development.
According to a report by Africazine, the project, which is fully funded by the Council’s resources, is part of a broader electrical infrastructure initiative aimed at transforming the entire Outapi Phase 1 region. Town spokesperson Joolokeni Haidula highlighted that this electrification effort aligns with their strategic planning initiatives, ultimately enhancing service delivery to residents.
“Construction for the electrification project began in early June 2025 and is set to be completed by September 2025,” stated Haidula. Once finished, homes on 55 erven in Extension 20 will be seamlessly connected to the electricity grid, paving the way for modern living and attracting new residents. Notably, 20 of these erven have already been earmarked for residential development, with 35 remaining available for allocation, presenting exciting opportunities for potential homeowners.
The infrastructural upgrades in Extension 20 also include ample water reticulation and sewerage services, ensuring that residents will benefit from essential facilities. As part of Namibia’s Vision 2030 initiative, this electrification project reflects the country’s goals of sustainable development and improved living standards for its citizens, as emphasized by President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah.
Haidula reiterated the Council’s dedication to enhancing the lives of its citizens, urging residents to visit Council offices to apply for available plots and kick-start their home construction projects. She also pointed out the importance of residents consistently paying for municipal services, which is crucial for maintaining infrastructure sustainability and facilitating further service delivery.
As Outapi progresses toward an electrified and modernized future, this project not only symbolizes the town’s commitment to development but also holds the promise of a brighter, more connected life for its residents. With the electrification initiative on track, Outapi is poised to set a benchmark for responsible urban development in Namibia.
