<p>PEMEX is optimistic about awarding these contracts, which include a signing bonus to cover its past investments in the fields, making it an attractive prospect for potential partners looking to explore this vibrant market.</p>
<p>Among the companies showing enthusiasm is Carlos Slim’s Grupo Carso, which has set its sights on the Ixachi project—the most lucrative of the available contracts. With an estimated investment of US billion, Grupo Carso’s involvement would account for over 60% of the total value across all contracts offered by PEMEX. Ixachi has proven potential, with the capacity to produce a remarkable 18.7 Mb/d of oil and 157.3 MMcf/d of natural gas.</p>
<p>International players are also keenly interested. The British company Harbour is eyeing the Och project, while a consortium comprising China’s Sinopec and Mexican firms C5M, Chame, and Diavaz is targeting the Tamaulipas Constituciones field. Additionally, these players are also intrigued by the Agua Fría project, which has significant output potential.</p>
<p>While no companies have yet bid for the resource-rich Bakté project—boasting the highest potential at 33.6 Mb/d of oil and 392.8 MMcf/d of natural gas—PEMEX remains hopeful. Smaller projects like Homol, Sini-Caparroso, and Cinco Presidentes are also on the market, valued collectively at US5 million. </p>
<p>As PEMEX takes this significant stride towards revitalizing its oil sector, the anticipation around these contracts builds excitement not just for investors but for Mexico’s economy at large. By integrating more private investment in its endeavors, PEMEX is poised to reshape the energy landscape, ensuring sustainable growth and enhancing its role as a leading player in the global oil market.</p>
