Standerton High School Learners Shine in Equestrian Competitions
Three talented equestrians from Standerton High School have recently made waves in the South African equestrian scene by participating in the qualifying rounds of the South African Western Mounted Games Association (SAWMGA) and the South African National Equestrian Schools Association (SANESA). Their remarkable performances are a testament to their dedication and skill in the sport.
One standout performer is Virné Vorster, who, alongside her trusty horse Blits, illustrated their prowess by securing 12th place in the first SAWMGA qualifier and 3rd place in the subsequent round. Additionally, in the SANESA qualifiers, Vorster placed 3rd in the first round and surged to 1st place in the second round, showcasing her remarkable improvement as she competed at the high school level 5.

Another dynamic duo, Sulanté Kitshoff and her noble steed Spartan, also made a mark, finishing in 6th place in the first SAWMGA qualifier and 13th in the second. Competing at an overall third level, their performance reflects the spirited nature of these young riders.
A game-changer in her category, Kyla Bezuidenhout and her horse Mississippi progressed from a newbie to overall level 2 with notable results—7th place in the first SAWMGA qualifier and 6th in the second. Kyla also participated in the SANESA qualifier, ending up with impressive 3rd and 2nd placements, all while competing at the high school level 4.
These learners have not only showcased their riding skills but have also brought a sense of pride to their school and community. The camaraderie and sportsmanship witnessed during these competitions highlight the vibrant equestrian culture in South Africa.
Looking ahead, excitement brews as the next qualifying rounds are set to take place on May 10 at Peraldi in Secunda. Enthusiasts and supporters are encouraged to rally behind these young talents as they continue to pursue their equestrian dreams.
