Celebrating Two Years: A New Era for the Apo-Wassa Road and Exciting Projects Ahead!

Nyesom Wike Promises Exciting Developments Ahead of President Tinubu’s Anniversary

As Nigeria gears up for a significant milestone in government leadership, Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has announced that the much-anticipated 15-kilometer Apo to Wassa road project is set for inauguration to honor President Bola Tinubu’s second anniversary in office. This announcement was made during a recent inspection of ongoing projects in Abuja, where Wike expressed his enthusiasm for the infrastructural developments taking shape across the territory.

The Apo to Wassa road, part of the Outer Southern Expressway, was designed with a focus on alleviating traffic congestion while facilitating the growth and development of the Wassa District. Importantly, Wike noted that this completed road project is just one of several initiatives set to be unveiled during the celebrations at the end of May. The ambitious project was executed by China Geo-Engineering Corporation (CGC), highlighting a successful collaboration between local authorities and international partners.

Wike’s recent site visit wasn’t limited to just the Apo to Wassa road. He also assessed the ongoing construction of the N16 Interchange at NICON Junction and a vital road linking Gishiri village to Maitama and Katampe Districts, enhancing connectivity and ease of transportation within the FCT. These projects, he assured, are on track for completion and will play a significant role in the upcoming anniversary festivities.

“By next week, we will be able to provide a comprehensive list of all the projects slated for inauguration, including the Abuja International Conference Centre and various road initiatives,” Wike shared. He stressed the administration’s commitment to enhancing the quality of life for residents through improved infrastructure. He announced not only the completion of several roads, including the Phase I of Obafemi Awolowo Way, but also the inauguration of the Greater Abuja Water Supply project.

In his optimistic remarks, Wike emphasized that multitude of people-focused projects are either underway or in the pipeline, including the construction of additional roads and renovations of schools across the FCT. Recognizing the importance of security, the minister stated that the FCT Administration is dedicated to bolstering safety measures to ensure residents feel secure in their communities.

He also called upon residents to take ownership of the new infrastructure, urging them to protect these valuable resources from vandalism. “On our part, we will do everything we can to ensure that all facilities and infrastructure provided are protected. Your support is paramount to our success,” Wike concluded.

With these developments, Abuja is not only positioning itself for growth but also providing its residents with the amenities they deserve. As we look forward to the celebrations marking President Tinubu’s tenure, the excitement surrounding these projects suggests a bright future for the FCT.
