Empowering Africa: Innovative Solutions for Education and Digital Inclusion at Paratus Group

In an inspiring move that promises to uplift communities, Paratus Group has embarked on a significant initiative to enhance education and infrastructure across Africa. Through its Paratus Social Investment (PSI) program, the company is committed to transforming lives by extending connectivity, digital resources, and educational opportunities to underserved regions, particularly in Namibia, Mozambique, and Angola.

Namibia's Digital Classroom Transformation

In Namibia, Paratus has been making waves with its collaboration with Eduvision. This initiative has been a game-changer for digital learning, particularly in rural schools. For over six years, Paratus has bolstered this partnership by supplying Geostationary Earth Orbit (GEO) satellite equipment, infrastructure, and essential technical support. As a result, more than 12,000 eager learners and 471 dedicated teachers across various educational levels—ranging from Junior Primary to Senior Secondary—are now equipped to harness the power of digital learning, illuminating their academic paths with new possibilities.

“Eduvision is a beacon of educational light, equipping Namibia’s future leaders with essential digital tools and teaching techniques,” said Barney Harmse, Executive Chairman of Paratus Group. “By providing connectivity to schools in underserved areas, we help unlock the potential of learners and teachers alike.” This commitment helps to ensure that education is inclusive, bridging the digital divide in what many might consider remote areas.

Mozambique's High-Speed Internet Revolution

Over in Mozambique, Paratus has also made a significant impact by connecting the entire Santa Maria community on the picturesque Machangulo Peninsula to high-speed internet via a Starlink installation at the local administrative post. This remarkable development has not only transformed access to digital learning tools for 1,466 students and 30 educators, but it has also empowered local healthcare services and businesses. With reliable internet access, residents—numbering around 3,500—are witnessing a dual wave of academic and economic progress, driving community growth in innovative ways.

The potential for growth and development through digital connectivity highlights the importance of technology in education and community advancement. Paratus Group’s commitment to enhancing lives through PSI showcases the positive ripple effect that accessible technology can have on education, health, and local economies across the continent.

As companies like Paratus take charge of creating equitable access to digital resources, the future of education and community development in Africa looks brighter than ever. With continued investment in infrastructure and innovative partnerships, more communities will soon join the digital revolution, empowering the next generation of learners to thrive.
