UAE Ranks First and Saudi Arabia Third in Arab World Happiness in 2025!

UAE Shines in World Happiness Report, Ranking 21st Globally while Leading the Arab World

In a heartening development for the UAE, the nation has secured a commendable 21st position in the 2025 World Happiness Report, surpassing several prominent countries including the UK, the US, and France. This accolade not only positions the UAE as the happiest country in the Arab world but also highlights its ongoing commitment to enhancing the well-being of its citizens and residents. The findings were released this week, much to the delight of those invested in emotional and social welfare across the Middle East.

The World Happiness Report, an annual assessment compiled by Gallup, evaluated happiness levels in 147 nations based on extensive data collected from 2022 to 2024. Remarkably, Finland continues to hold the title of the happiest country in the world for the eighth consecutive year, offering a benchmark for nations aiming to elevate the quality of life for their populations. Mexico and Costa Rica also made significant strides, entering the top ten this year and proving that happiness can thrive even in diverse circumstances.

Interestingly, the United States and the United Kingdom did not fare as well as expected, landing at 24th and 23rd place respectively. Such rankings prompt a contemplation on the factors affecting happiness worldwide and showcase how different regions prioritize well-being.

In the Arab region, Kuwait follows closely behind the UAE as the second happiest nation, ranking 30th globally. Saudi Arabia comes in third at 32nd place, while Oman, Bahrain, Libya, Algeria, Iraq, and the Palestinian Territories round out the list. Each country’s ranking highlights distinct cultural and social dynamics contributing to their citizens’ happiness.

The report gauges national happiness through several essential metrics, including gross domestic product per capita, social support networks, healthy life expectancy, freedom to make life choices, perceptions of corruption, and acts of generosity. These indicators reveal not just where nations stand in the happiness scale, but also shed light on areas needing improvement for enhanced societal well-being.

As we look towards a global landscape increasingly focused on mental health and quality of life, the UAE’s achievements set a remarkable example for its neighbors and the world at large. It inspires a thoughtful look at what it means to create happiness and well-being for all citizens, advocating for policies that foster a more fulfilling and supportive environment.
