On March 13, during the prestigious Moses ‘Big Moss’ Maluleke Municipal Awards held at the scenic Sasavona Game Lodge in Bela-Bela, the FTLM proudly clinched two exceptional accolades from the South African Local Government Association (Salga). This event not only honors outstanding local governance but pays tribute to the late Moses Maluleke, a dedicated leader whose legacy inspires local authorities across South Africa.
The FTLM received awards for maintaining an unqualified audit opinion for the 2023/24 financial year and for successfully avoiding any fruitless and wasteful expenditure during the audit cycle. These achievements highlight the municipality’s commitment to transparency, efficiency, and sound financial management.
Mayor Cllr Eddie Maila, beaming with pride, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated councillors, administration staff, and all stakeholders involved. In 2024, the municipality celebrated four significant honors, including 100% spending on the municipal infrastructure grant (MIG) and notable improvements in audit performance.
