The Ministry of Education and Technical Education in Egypt is set to revolutionize the landscape of public education during the upcoming 2024-2025 academic year by expanding the innovative Japanese educational system known as Tokkatsu to a whopping 100 public schools. This initiative is emblematic of Egypt’s commitment to enhancing education quality across the nation and fostering holistic development in students.
The Tokkatsu program, introduced to Egyptian classrooms back in 2016, is designed to nurture non-cognitive skills in children, such as autonomy, social independence, and the ability to form meaningful relationships. Authored by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), it’s a curriculum that transcends traditional academic subjects to cultivate well-rounded individuals. Currently, Tokkatsu has successfully been integrated into 55 public schools, benefiting more than 16,000 students who have embraced its participatory approach. With the ambitious expansion goals, the Ministry envisions another 1,700 public schools adopting this system by the 2026-2027 academic year. To ensure its success, it plans to train at least 30,000 teachers in the methodology, further enriching the educational experience for countless young learners.
