This initiative not only champions education but also endeavors to enhance skill sets in the vital fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM).
The deadline for submissions is set for March 14, 2025, so mark your calendars! This annual competition offers an incredible platform for high school students, particularly those from underprivileged backgrounds, to harness their creativity and problem-solving skills. Samsung is committed to nurturing the next wave of talent, and this competition is a golden opportunity for Grade 10 and 11 learners attending public schools across the nation.
Participants will be addressing real-world community challenges through innovative project proposals, all while equipping themselves with invaluable analytical skills and insights provided by experienced Samsung employees. This year’s focus is particularly inspiring, revolving around the theme of “Infrastructure and Safety”. Participants are encouraged to tackle pressing issues relevant to their schools and communities, selecting from three impactful areas:
1. Energy-Efficient Schools: Students can devise practical methods to decrease energy consumption, promoting sustainability and environmental consciousness in education.
2. Innovative Transport Solutions for Learners in Rural/Township Schools: This category challenges learners to create accessible transportation systems for students who may struggle with long commutes from remote regions.
3. Affordable Safety Devices for Learners Traveling Long Distances: Young minds are invited to design budget-friendly safety tools that ensure the security of learners on their daily journeys.
To enter the competition, teams of 2 to 5 learners must comply with the following criteria: participate as a team, select a single topic to address, belong to a quintile 1-4 public school, and consist of South African citizens. All proposals must be submitted through the Samsung Solve for Tomorrow website.
