Empowering Leaders: New Worker Selection Kicks Off for Exclusive Leadership Training Program!

FCT Administration Kicks Off Capacity Building Program for Future Leaders

In a significant move aimed at enhancing governance in Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory (FCT), the Leadership Enhancement and Development Program (LEAD-P) has officially launched its selection process for workers across various Secretariats, Departments, and Agencies (SDAs). This initiative, approved by the FCT Minister, is designed to bolster the capabilities of civil servants, particularly those in grades 10-14, ensuring they are well-equipped to step into leadership roles.

Mrs. Grace Adaiyilo, the Head of the Civil Service of the FCT, emphasized the importance of this training during the program’s kickoff. She stated that the initiative is a vital step in preparing the next generation of leaders who will eventually transition into positions such as directors and permanent secretaries. “We aim to create a robust pool of skilled leaders who can adeptly manage the complexities of governance in our capital territory,” Adaiyilo remarked.

The capacity-building program is not just a run-of-the-mill training; it offers participants a unique chance to engage in learning, networking, and personal growth. Participants are encouraged to embrace the myriad opportunities that come with the program, fostering an environment where talent can flourish.

Dr. Jumai Ahmadu, the acting Director of FCT Reform Coordination and Service Improvement, shed light on the selection process, revealing that nearly 975 applicants had submitted their responses online, eager to be part of this transformative initiative. The first phase involves a Computer-Based Test (CBT), from which the top 100 candidates will be selected for a rigorous seven-month training regime. This comprehensive training will take place both within the city and outside of Abuja, focusing on closing existing gaps in service delivery.

What sets this program apart is its meticulous selection process. Dr. Ahmadu noted that this initiative represents a pioneering effort within the Federal Capital Territory Administration, aiming to produce 100 highly trained workers annually. With her department providing technical support, the anticipation surrounding the outcomes of this program is palpable.

In a rapidly changing world that demands effective leadership and innovative problem-solving, programs like LEAD-P underscore the commitment of the Federal Capital Territory to prepare its workforce for future challenges. This comprehensive approach not only aims to enhance individual skills but also to contribute to the overall betterment of service delivery in Nigeria’s capital.

This forward-thinking initiative not only showcases the FCT’s commitment to capacity building but also reflects a broader trend across Africa towards empowering local governance and nurturing future leaders.
