New Ministers Urged to Team Up for a Sustainable Future

New Ministers Encouraged to Collaborate for Sustainable Development

In an inspiring move towards fostering collaboration within Nigeria’s governance, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Mr. George Akume, has issued a compelling call to the newly appointed ministers at the recent two-day Induction Retreat held in Abuja. This initiative comes as part of the government’s broader strategy under the Renewed Hope Agenda championed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, emphasizing the importance of teamwork among governmental stakeholders.

During the retreat, Akume underscored that the path to sustainable development hinges on strong cooperation among ministers, Permanent Secretaries, and various other key stakeholders. “Your roles also require close collaboration with your colleague Ministers, Permanent Secretaries, Heads of Agencies, and other Stakeholders,” he said, illuminating the pressing need for effective inter-ministerial cooperation to tackle the multifaceted challenges currently faced by the nation. These challenges range from economic recovery to social cohesion, ultimately steering Nigeria towards a promising future of sustainable development.

The SGF encouraged the ministers to embody principles of transparency, accountability, and excellence as they navigate their responsibilities. He assured them that his office remains committed to providing the necessary support as the new ministers lead their ministries towards the successful implementation of government policies, programs, and projects.

Echoing these sentiments, Boss Mustapha, the previous SGF, emphasized the significance of synergy between the ministers and his office in executing the eight priority areas outlined in the Renewed Hope Agenda.

Furthermore, Didi Esther Walson-Jack, the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, urged the ministers to align their objectives with the ongoing reforms reflected in the Federal Civil Service Strategy Implementation Plan (FCSSIP) 2021-2025. Maximizing these reforms is crucial as it paves the way for modern and efficient governance, which is vital for national progression.

Hadiza Bala Usman, Special Adviser to the President on Policy and Coordination, reiterated the retreat’s purpose, stating it offered new ministers an opportunity to immerse themselves in key Presidential Priority Areas and build essential relationships within their ministries to fulfill the overarching goals of the Renewed Hope Agenda.

The retreat also featured insights from Mr. Adeola Oluwatosin Ajayi, Director-General of the State Security Service, who highlighted the importance of discretion in handling sensitive government information, thereby contributing to national security.

As Nigeria embarks on this collaborative journey, the expectation is clear: unity and purpose will be at the forefront, carving a trajectory towards a vibrant and sustainable future for all.
