Chairman Explores North West Sidi Ghazi Field, Celebrates Successful M Project Completion

In a significant step towards enhancing Egypt’s energy landscape, Yassin Mohamed, Chairman of the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS), recently toured the North West Sidi Ghazi field development project situated in the fertile Nile Delta region. This visit is part of a series of inspections aimed at vital production sites across the country, highlighting Egypt’s commitment to bolstering its natural gas sector.

In the company of notable figures from the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, including Ahmed Mostafa, Undersecretary for Production, and Samir Raslan, who oversees Exploration and Agreements, Mohamed’s visit showcased the collaborative spirit that is driving Egypt’s ambitions in energy production. Sameh Sabry, Senior Vice President and Managing Director of Wintershall Dea-MENA, also joined the delegation, reinforcing the critical role that international partnerships play in the nation’s energy goals.

The North West Sidi Ghazi project, realized by the Disouq Petroleum Joint Venture Company, reached a pivotal milestone with the completion of its central processing unit in late August. This development is not just a testament to engineering excellence but symbolizes the strategic investments being made in Egypt to enhance the production of gas and condensate. The project was initiated in December 2022, with an impressive investment of around million, and marks a significant advancement towards meeting the country’s energy demands.

During the visit, Mohamed expressed his appreciation for Disouq’s exemplary role as a joint venture and applauded its contributions to the increase in gas and condensate outputs. Meanwhile, Sabry reaffirmed Wintershall Dea’s dedication to driving production, underscoring the importance of this project in reinforcing Egypt’s energy security and sustainability objectives.

Importantly, the development is committed to adhering to emission reduction principles, reflecting a forward-thinking approach to energy production that takes environmental obligations seriously. The focus on maintaining stringent health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards was a key theme during the visit, underscoring the shared responsibility that comes with sustainable and safe operational practices.

Egypt stands as a shining example in North Africa’s energy sector, and with continued investments and collaborations, the country’s natural gas production is set to thrive, making a substantial contribution not only to the local economy but also to the broader regional energy landscape.
