Netflix Plots Olympics Programming Push With ‘Sprint’ First Out Of Starting Blocks

Netflix is planning its own Olympics summer.

The streamer is preparing to roll out a number of Olympics-themed series ahead of Paris 2024.

It kicks off its sports summer with Sprint, which it announced last year.

Brandon Reigg, VP, Nonfiction Series, said, “Now with this being an Olympic year, we didn’t want to miss out on tapping into that world, as well. We have an incredible, jaw-dropping look at the top sprinters from around the world as they get ready to compete in Paris. The 100-meter sprint, as most of you probably know, is one of the preeminent events in every Summer Olympics, so we really couldn’t be happier to be showcasing that world here on Netflix.

“It’s just one of a few Olympics projects that we have planned, where we’ll have amazing access and the ability to feature some of the world’s top athletes.”

It’s understood that Sprint will be joined by a couple of other Olympics-themed series.

Sprint will follow the top sprinters in the world, featuring athletes from the U.S. Jamaica, the United Kingdom, Ivory Coast, Kenya and Italy.
