A new gold-copper has been discovered at the Odienné Project in Côte d’Ivoire. Awalé Resources made the announcement and said the discovery was made at the BBM Target within the project.
Andrew Chubb, CEO of Awalé Resources said this is considered a significant greenfield discovery, as it is an area that has not been previously explored. The BBM discovery has a promising potential for rapid expansion, with an 8 km current strike potential.
New targets
The identification of a major domain boundary between BBM and Lando according to the CEO, opens up the possibility of finding new targets in that region. The announcement also mentions further significant results with visible gold at the Charger Target and new mineralization from the first two scout holes at the Lando Target, located 10 km NW of the BBM discovery.
Chubb expressed optimism about advancing the BBM target quickly and exploring new targets between BBM and Lando. The initial drilling at Lando is encouraging, and the company plans to conduct further systematic drilling at this target. The final holes drilled at Charger have revealed a new mineralized orientation that is now being targeted in the current drill program.
In addition to the exploration successes, Chubb highlighted the achievements and changes within Awalé Resources throughout the year, including significant discoveries on the Odienné project in 2023, changes at the board and management level, and recapitalization through investments from Orecap and Newmont.
